POSITION OVERVIEW
This is a fixed-term, part-time role beginning on May 4th and ending on December 11th, 2026.
Expected workload is:
· May to August: approximately 24 hours per week
· September to December: approximately 12-16 hours per week, aligned with project and reporting cycles
The Data Analytics & Governance Specialist supports the execution of IGNITE’s data governance, data analytics, and digital measurement initiatives, with a focus on data quality, documentation, testing, analytics support, and customer service-oriented data workflows. Working under the direction of the Manager, Data Analytics & Governance and within the broader Data Analytics & Digital Transformation team, this role assists with maintaining data standards, supporting analytics and reporting activities, testing data flows and digital tools, and helping ensure consistent, high-quality use of IGNITE’s Student Engagement Platform and related systems. The role places particular emphasis on practical data handling, platform testing, Google Analytics reporting, and responsive support to internal and external stakeholders, helping translate data and insights into improved student experiences and operational decision-making.
RESPONSIBILITIES
DATA GOVERNANCE & INFORMATION MANAGEMENT SUPPORT
• Assist with maintaining data documentation, data inventories, and data definitions across key systems and platforms
• Support data quality reviews by identifying inconsistencies, gaps, or errors and escalating findings to the Manager
• Assist with documenting data workflows, data ownership, and usage practices for internal reference
• Support routine data audits and governance activities aligned with internal standards and regulatory requirements
• Help maintain organized, accessible documentation for data-related processes and tools
DATA ANALYTICS & REPORTING SUPPORT
• Assist in collecting, cleaning, validating, and preparing datasets for analysis and reporting
• Support the creation and updating of dashboards, reports, and summary outputs using Excel, Power BI, or similar tools
• Conduct basic trend analysis and quality checks to ensure reported data is accurate and reliable
• Support scheduled and ad-hoc reporting requests from internal stakeholders
• Assist with documentation of reporting logic, KPIs, and data sources to support consistency and reuse
STUDENT ENGAGEMENT PLATFORM & DIGITAL TOOLS
• Support the administration and quality assurance of the Student Engagement Platform, including testing configurations, workflows, and data capture mechanisms
• Assist with testing new features, updates, or integrations prior to deployment
• Help monitor platform usage and data outputs to ensure alignment with student engagement and customer service objectives
• Document platform processes, user guides, and known issues to support internal users
WEB ANALYTICS & GOOGLE ANALYTICS
• Support the collection and analysis of web and digital engagement data using Google Analytics 4
• Assist with validating tracking configurations and testing analytics implementations
• Prepare basic reports on user behavior, engagement trends, and platform usage to support decision-making
• Support continuous improvement by identifying data gaps or tracking issues and escalating them appropriately
CUSTOMER SERVICE & INTERNAL SUPPORT
• Respond to basic data, reporting, and platform-related inquiries from internal stakeholders in a timely and service-oriented manner
• Assist with troubleshooting common data or analytics issues and escalating more complex matters as required
• Support onboarding and training materials related to data tools, dashboards, and analytics platforms
• Contribute to a positive internal service culture by helping teams understand and use data effectively
QUALIFICATIONS
Technical Knowledge
• Working knowledge of data handling, data quality concepts, and basic analytics practices
• Familiarity with Google Analytics 4 and interpreting digital engagement metrics
• Ability to test and validate data flows, reports, and platform functionality
• Comfort working with structured datasets, spreadsheets, and dashboards
• Ability to document processes and findings clearly and accurately
Soft Skills
• Strong customer service mindset with a focus on responsiveness and clarity
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a part-time environment
• Willingness to learn, ask questions, and adapt to evolving priorities
COMPETENCIES
• Currently enrolled in, or recently completed, a post-secondary program in Data Analytics, Information Management, Business, Computer Science, Digital Media, or a related field
• Demonstrated interest or coursework in data analytics, data governance, or information management
• Experience using Google Analytics (GA4) for reporting or analysis
• Experience with customer service or internal support roles, demonstrating responsiveness and clear communication
• Experience with testing digital tools, platforms, or workflows considered a strong asset
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and familiarity with basic data analysis techniques
• Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools considered an asset
